Huddart County Park and Phleger Estate
Saturday, December 13, 2014
Let's bookend the year by returning to the trail system that we ran last January, one of our favorite nearby sites, Huddart County Park, including the neighboring trails in Phleger Estate. This is an all-weather venue, well-sheltered by trees and with trails that are largely resistant to mud.
When Saturday, December 13, 2014. Meet at 8:20am for an 8:30am start. Arrive at the park gate no later than 8:15am, to allow time to pay the parking fee of $6 (exact change or a check made out to San Mateo County) and fill out the pay envelope.
Where Huddart County Park, Zwierlein Picnic Area.
How to get there Follow this Google Maps route, or set your GPS to lat=37.441593, lon=-122.290792. Should anyone wish to car pool (to share the admission fee) then I suggest meeting behind the Woodside Town Center where there is usually ample and always free parking with no time limit. You can find the parking lot here: https://goo.gl/maps/hlQ4B
What A 10 mile long route and a 7 mile medium route. Printed trail maps (like the one below) will be available at the start of the run. This is a remote trail run and each runner must carry at least one water bottle. To avoid having to search for lost runners we ask every runner to find other runners of approximately the same running ability to form a group.
After the run, let's head back to Woodside for breakfast at Buck's (an iconic Silicon Valley experience in itself). Its a 10 minute drive from the trail head at 3062 Woodside Rd., Woodside.
