Next trail run - Rodeo Beach and Marine Mammal Center, Sunday 9/13 + more!

Well, I'd like to think that each of the PARC Monthly Trail Runs is special, the next two however, extra so.

Sept 13 (Sunday) Rodeo Beach and Marine Mammal Center - A very popular run in the spectacular Marin Headlands followed by a special <no-fee for PARC members> tour of the Marine Mammal Center compliments of PARC & MMC Board Member extraordinaire Stan Jensen. We last had this activity in 2012 when over 50 runners joined in. Carpools will leave Palo Alto around 7:05am (sorry, but its worth it ;-). & do check out Stan's MMC promotional video, not only wonderful, it has over 1.3M views!! Dawn Helps Save Wildlife - We All Love Wildlife, featuring Stan Jensen

Oct 11 (Sunday) PARC Anniversary Party - a multi-year tradition, our Anniversary Party will be held at local gem Hidden Villa. A fun run activity that challenges brains as well as legs will be followed by an excellent brunch cooked by PARC Board Members. Reserve the date!
More details forthcoming.
I also want to let you know about a wonderful local trail race sponsored by the Stevens Creek Striders on Sept 26th. Not only do The Striders put on a well run event, a significant proportion of the race fees are contributed to the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society (tax deductible for you).

Three distances to choose from: 50k, 30k, & Half-Marathon. The start times are staggered so that the finishes will be at more or less the same time. The run is followed by a post race gathering with sandwiches provided.

50k: 8am (or early start at 7am). 30k: 9:30am. Half: 11am

These races give you the chance to run through the beautiful high ridge open spaces including Monte Bello, Saratoga Gap, Long Ridge, Skyline Ridge, and Russian Ridge Open Space Preserves. Small is beautiful: their permit with the Open Space District limits the total runners to 150, so space is limited in each race. More details, maps and Google Earth fly-throughs can be found at: http://stevenscreekstriders.com/scsraces/

Every runner will take home a tee and a running hat. I plan to run the half.
